NSW: Man to face court over security scare on rail network
A 59-year-old man has been charged over last week's false alarm that sparked a massivesearch of Sydney's Cityrail network.
It's alleged the Toongabbie man called Crimestoppers last Wednesday, warning that agroup of men was planning to plant a dangerous package somewhere on the sprawling railnetwork.
The security scare sparked a police swoop on the city's trains and stations, leadingto lengthy delays as many passengers faced bag checks.
The man approached police yesterday with more information.
He's been charged with conveying false information that a person or property was indanger, and public mischief.
He's been bailed to appear at Blacktown Local Court on September the 11th.
