Departmental charges have been filed against a town police officer who, while off duty last weekend, allegedly fired a handgun in the parking lot of an Albany restaurant.
The charges were mailed Thursday to Andrew G. Johnson, 24, of Western Avenue, Altamont, said Supervisor Kevin A. Moss.
The charges were compiled by Police Chief James Murley following a departmental investigation of the incident. Johnson, who is also a paramedic, has been suspended from the force without pay.
Both Moss and Murley declined to elaborate on the charges or the the penalty they involve.
